Listening 2 3 45 periods This course helps students get familiarized with a variety of topics such as psychology, communication, cuisine, finance, business and society in many simple forms of conversations, news reports, and lectures. Students will gain listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills at the level of B1 - based on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Students will have the ability to express oneself in a limited way in familiar situations and to deal in a general way with non-routine information. Ongoing & final exam (Craven, M., & Sherman, K. Speaking 2 3 45 periods This course helps students practice speaking skills based on such situations and social topics such as first impression, nutrition, success and failure, life transitions, major issues impacting the world, ads, experience, selecting the living places, money and happiness, communication and events. Reading 2 3 45 periods This course provides students with a variety of reading subskills such as skimming, scanning, guessing the meaning of unknown words based on context clues and/or morphological analysis, identifying genre of the given text, identifying the writer’s viewpoints or attitudes; This course also equips students with academic vocabulary and background knowledge about subjects like culture, sports, entertainment, occupation, ads, food and environment. Writing 2 3 45 periods It helps students explore ideas, brainstorm prior knowledge on the topics through pictures and suggested questions in order to build vocabulary, organize ideas for the related topics such as cooking and nutrition, psychology, tourism, technology, education and economy.
