“Poetry and Verse”: Online Activities at the Faculty of Foreign Language, TDTU

Poetry, a universal language that nourishes the soul, has been a cornerstone of human expression since ancient times. China, a cradle of world culture, boasts a remarkable poetic heritage that continues to inspire.

From June 10th to 14th, 2024, the Hanle Chinese Club of the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) hosted a successful series of online academic activities titled "Poetry and Verse" (Season III). This engaging program attracted a large number of enthusiastic Chinese language students.

A Playground for Learning:

The Hanle Chinese Club designed these activities to provide a stimulating and practical learning environment for students majoring in Chinese Language. A highlight of these activities was a set of engaging multiple-choice questions, accessible via Google Forms, that enabled students to explore the beauty and nuances of poetry woven into everyday life in China. This 40-question test encompassed various areas, including poetry knowledge, proverbs, idioms, and commonly used Chinese expressions.

Enriching the Learning Experience:

Participation in the online contest offered students a chance to:

  • Expand their specialized knowledge: Students tested their understanding of Chinese poetry and gained valuable insights into its role in daily life.
  • Discover the joy of learning: The engaging format and interesting content fostered a love for the Chinese language and its rich poetic tradition.
  • Earn recognition: By answering 25 or more questions correctly, students would receive recognition for their extracurricular activities according to university regulations.

Beyond the Competition:

"Poetry and Verse" was more than just a competition; it was an immersive experience designed to spark a deeper appreciation for the Chinese language and its cultural significance. The activities fostered a sense of community and provided students with valuable learning opportunities.
