Workshop “Future career plan”

On the morning of November 30, 2024, at A403 Meeting Room Tan Phong Campus, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), the Foreign Languages Faculty collaborated with the Lota Group to organize a sharing session titled "Future Career Planning" for third and fourth-year students majoring in Chinese Language. The presentation was delivered by guest speaker Ms. Chen Man Li, Human Resources Director of the Lota Group.

Attending the program from the Foreign Languages Faculty were Dr. Ly Y Lam - Head of the Faculty's Business Cooperation Board, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Dung - Lecturer of English - a member of the Business Cooperation Board, and more than 40 third and fourth-year students majoring in Chinese Language.

At the sharing session, the speaker outlined 5 steps to building a career plan, including: understanding oneself, understanding others, making decisions, setting goals, and taking action. Accordingly, the speaker emphasized that to effectively plan one's future career, it is essential to clearly understand what one likes, needs, can do, and can potentially do. Analyze the market demand for the desired field, then consider and set a primary goal to plan for the next step.

Also at the sharing session, when asked by students, "How to build a career plan when students still lack practical experience and all knowledge is gained only through books?", Ms. Chen Man Li frankly expressed: "Everyone starts the same, we all start as inexperienced people when we come to a business environment. What makes you different from others is that you constantly learn and improve yourself, becoming a person who brings value to the company."

With the valuable sharing of Ms. Chen Man Li, Chinese Language students not only equipped themselves with valuable knowledge about building a future career plan but were also motivated to develop themselves to become a person with a mindset, ability, and create many values for the community.
