Workshop on "Classroom Management at High Schools"

To equip final-year students with the necessary knowledge and skills for classroom management, and to provide a deeper understanding of the role and responsibilities of homeroom teachers in guiding students' academic learning, life skills development, and character building at the high school level, the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) organized a workshop on classroom management on the morning of January 4, 2025, in Room B201 at the Tan Phong Campus. The workshop was specifically designed for English language pedagogy students and was facilitated by Ms. Nguyen Vu Thao Vy, an experienced educator from Tran Khai Nguyen High School (Ho Chi Minh City).

Attending the workshop, from the Faculty of Foreign Languages, were Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Tam, M.A., Head of the Department of English Teaching Methodology, Mr. Hoang Le Quoc Dat, M.A., Member of the Business Cooperation Board, along with nearly 80 third- and fourth-year students specializing in English language pedagogy.

During the nearly two-hour session, Ms. Nguyen Vu Thao Vy covered three main topics:

  • The role of homeroom teachers in fostering student cohesion, building a positive learning environment, and supporting the holistic development of high school students.
  • Essential skills for homeroom teachers, including classroom management, conflict resolution, and collaboration with students and parents.
  • Real-life scenarios commonly encountered by homeroom teachers, with corresponding effective handling methods.

With her approachable presentation style, inspirational delivery, and meaningful real-life anecdotes, Ms. Nguyen Vu Thao Vy helped students from the Faculty of Foreign Languages gain a better understanding of the significance and value of classroom management.

The workshop was enthusiastically received by the students. Numerous questions regarding the handling of complex classroom situations were raised, creating an animated and engaging atmosphere. It is hoped that this workshop will serve as valuable preparation for students, enabling them to confidently transition into the professional teaching environment and become dedicated, exemplary educators in the future.
