FFL Debating Championships - Season 5

FFL Debating Championships – Season 5 is officially back, bringing a professional academic playground for English Language students at the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU).

The competition aims to create an academic platform where students can confidently deliver speeches in English, thereby developing their critical thinking and argumentative skills. FFL Debating Championships – Season 5 not only helps students connect knowledge with real-life practice and affirm their personal competence, but also empowers them to shine confidently in a professional academic environment.

I. ELIGIBILITY

English Language majors, especially students currently taking the course Public Speaking (Course Code: 001154) in Semester 2, Academic Year 2025–2026.

II. FORMAT & CONTENT

The competition consists of three rounds:

1) Preliminary Round – “Spark The Flame”

Create a script and self-record an inspirational speech video (maximum 3 minutes).

•    Submission period: 23/02/2026 – 05/03/2026
•    Format: Students self-record an inspirational video on a topic of their choice, suitable for an educational environment and humanistic in nature. Maximum length: 03 minutes.
•    Note: Students enrolled in the Public Speaking course (Standard Program, Advanced Program, and English-taught Program) in Semester 2, Academic Year 2025–2026 are required to participate in the preliminary round. Their submission will be counted toward the “Video Production” component in the course’s continuous assessment.
•    Video file naming format: COURSE GROUP CODE – 001154 – FULL NAME – STUDENT ID

     (Example: 01 – 001154 – NGUYEN VAN A – 023H1234)

2) Voting Round – “Earn The Fame”

    Selected videos will be posted and voted on via the Faculty of Foreign Languages’ Fanpage.

•    Voting period: 23/03/2026 – 05/04/2026
•    Voting method: Interactions and shares on the Faculty of Foreign Languages (TDTU) Fanpage. (1 point per interaction; 2 points per share)

3) Final Round – “Take The Reign”

    The Top 8 contestants will compete live at Hall 6M on Saturday morning, 09/05/2026, from 07:30 to 11:30 (tentative).

III. ATTRACTIVE PRIZES

  • 01 First Prize: 2,000,000 VND
  • 01 Second Prize: 1,500,000 VND
  • 01 Third Prize: 1,000,000 VND
  • 05 Consolation Prizes: 500,000 VND each
